Khayelihle Phakathi is a South African Digital Imaging Technician, colourist, and post-production professional working across long-form television, short films, documentaries, and feature films. He is an Executive Committee member of the South African Finishing and Imaging Technicians Society (SAFAITS), where he focuses on membership growth, industry development, and supporting emerging and established post-production practitioners.
Khayelihle has built his career at the intersection of on-set imaging and post-production, collaborating closely with directors, cinematographers, producers, art departments, and wardrobe teams to ensure visual continuity and creative intent from set through to final delivery. His work spans high-pressure broadcast environments and independent cinema, including serving as a DIT on My Brother’s Keeper, one of South Africa’s most-watched telenovelas.
As a colourist and post-production specialist, his practice is grounded in technical precision, strong visual storytelling, and an in-depth understanding of modern finishing workflows. He is experienced with industry-standard post-production pipelines and regularly works with directors and producers to shape the final look and feel of projects during grading and delivery.
Khayelihle is also the founder of his own post-production company, where he currently oversees colour grading and post-production management for short films, feature films, and documentary projects. His long-term focus is on building sustainable post-production infrastructure within the South African film industry and contributing to the professionalisation and growth of finishing and imaging disciplines.
Through SAFAITS, Khayelihle is committed to fostering knowledge-sharing, mentorship, and community across all skill levels, helping ensure that South African post-production practitioners are equipped to compete at an international standard while maintaining a strong local identity.
