SAFAITS is a film industry guild that represents Digital Intermediate Colourists, Digital Imaging Technicians (DITs), Online Editors, VFX Artists, Compositors, QC (Quality Control) & Delivery Editors who play a crucial role in ensuring the visual quality of South African film, TV, and digital media. Student Membership
Membership fee:
R200 pa

Eligibility:
Open to students in film schools or media-related courses who are interested in post-production, colour grading, or digital imaging.

Junior Membership

Eligibility:
Entry-level or early-career professionals (e.g., recent graduates or those with less than 2-3 years of experience) in post production or imaging technician roles.
Benefits:
Full access to industry workshops, networking events, job boards, mentorship programs, and discounted rates for further training. May also include portfolio review sessions to help members refine their skills and gain constructive feedback.
Supporting Documentation:
Résumé or portfolio showcasing projects or roles within the last 2-3 years.
Full Membership
Membership fee:

Eligibility:
Established professionals with several years of industry experience, such as colourists, digital imaging technicians, VFX artists, and finishing artists.
Benefits:
Full access to all SAFAITS resources, including exclusive job opportunities, advanced training, industry certifications, and voting rights. These members may also be eligible for listing in a member directory available to production companies.
Supporting Documentation:
Résumé or CV with 3-10 years of experience in relevant roles (such as colourist, DIT, VFX artist, or finishing artist).
Master Membership
Membership fee:

Eligibility:
Seasoned professionals with a decade or more of experience, recognised as industry leaders or mentors.
Benefits:
Exclusive invitations to leadership and executive events, speaking engagements, eligibility for mentorship roles, and the opportunity to contribute to SAFAITS policy and industry standards.

Comprehensive CV with 10+ years of experience in post-production or digital imaging.
Affiliate or Supporter Membership

Eligibility:
Individuals or companies that work alongside the industry, such as equipment suppliers, production companies, or post-production service providers, who may not need full membership benefits but want to support Safaits.
Benefits:
Invitations to SAFAITS events, opportunities for sponsorships, and access to industry insights and reports. Affiliate members may also have networking opportunities to connect with other SAFAITS professionals.
Supporting Documentation:
A brief statement of intent or interest in joining, explaining how they intend to support SAFAITS (e.g., through sponsorship, event hosting, or industry advocacy).
